To celebrate American Education Week, Nottingham invited community members into our rooms to read a great book. Thank you to Mr. Canaday, assistant principal at Penn's Grove, for reading us Bats at the Beach by Brian Lies. Coincidentally, this book supported our lesson on using context clues to determine the meaning of unknown words.

Over the past two weeks, the children worked on a project called a RAFT: Role Audience, Format, Topic To challenge this wonderful group of smart kids, I created a social studies project that required research and creativity. The kids had a choice between two projects. Research North America and then: Write an ABC book about North America as if you are Dr. Seuss. Or Write a picture postcard as if you are a tourist from Europe. |
